Brigette C. Kamsler is a Professional Archivist with extensive experience in the non-profit, educational and corporate realms. She is proud to be the University Archivist at the George Washington University in Washington, DC.
She spent seven years in New York City, most recently as the United States Corporate Archivist for HSBC. Prior to the corporate world, Brigette was an archivist at the Burke Library at Union Theological Seminary, Columbia University in the City of New York for over four years. She worked on two grant projects funded by the Henry Luce Foundation: the first was the processing of the Missionary Research Library Archives and the William Adams Brown Ecumenical Library Archives. Her second grant focused on the processing of the faculty, staff, and student papers of Union Theological Seminary. Before her work at Columbia, she was the Archivist and Research Center Coordinator at the Historical Society of Frederick County, Maryland.
Brigette has a BA in History from Millersville University and a MLIS from the University of Pittsburgh where she specialized in Archives, Preservation and Records Management.
Brigette has been working in the archives, museum and library field for the past twenty years. She enjoys the processing and preservation of collections; making collections available and ensuring users have access to information and resources; teaching with archives and special collections; advising organizations and individuals about archival history, issues and care; as well as supervising and mentoring others interested in the field.
Brigette looks forward to being an advocate for historical documents and collections, as well as the patrons who use them, throughout her career.
